Ceramics – Sculpting & Throwing BEGINNERS

Throwing & Sculpting BEGINNERS

This is a ten week introductory course into the various effects and processes in Ceramics that can be achieved at Studio 45, Dartington.

The course will include throwing, tile-making, sculpting, and glaze application. All participants will be taught to recycle and process their own clay as standard practice.

Ceramics – Sculpting & Throwing ADVANCED

Throwing & Sculpting ADVANCED

The advanced pottery class is for those who have finished the intermediate course at studio 45 or already have an established practice. Whether at home, in their own workshop or at studio 45.

Students are encouraged to develop specific areas of interest, whether that is furthering throwing skills, hand building/sculpture or glaze technology.  This course is taught by Richenda Macgregor.  A master Potter, with a keen interest in stoneware glazes, specifically ash glazes, Raku firing, and working with local materials indigenous to the South West.

This class will be very small and will concentrate on furthering throwing skills and sculpting using coiling and slab technique. It will be project-led so participants are encouraged to design and draw ideas and the teacher will be at hand to consult and help with technical difficulties as well as one-to-one tuition on the wheel.
